DOMINICAN REPUBLIC

BEST TIME

The best time depends on the most hours of sunshine and the least amount of rain. The months with the least amount of rain are from January to April and are the best months to visit the island, but they are not the hottest months and the water temperature is a little colder. THE  sea gets warmer  months from June to November.

On the other hand, the rainiest months are from August to November, and at this time the region is also vulnerable to hurricanes. The possibility of them occurring is rare, but it does exist.

If you don't like crowds and high prices, avoid high season, which coincides with American travel (January to April).

In the second fortnight of March and the first fortnight of April, Spring Break takes place, the week that Americans are fed up with. At this time, hotels in Caribbean destinations are usually full or much more expensive.

BEST TOURS

Your day at this destination will inevitably be between  the resort's beach and pool, with frequent trips to get drinks. The snack bars serve snacks for those who want to eat between lunch and dinner, and some are open 24 hours – everything varies according to the hotel. The entertainment teams are interspersed in the activities, which are very varied and range from a beer drinking contest to sports competitions.

The tours are always facing the sea, the main one in Punta Cana, but those who are not part of the diving team are not left without something to do, whether on a buggy tour or a helicopter tour and of course the visit to Saona Island which is a paradise.

Another option is to visit Santo Domingo, capital of the Dominican Republic which is one of the oldest cities in the Caribbean. Its cobblestone historic center, with its Colonial Zone, has buildings dating back to the 1500s, including the cathedral, the first built in the New World. In the cafe-lined Plaza de España is the Alcázar de Colón palace, which is now one of the city's many museums, displaying Medieval and Renaissance art. And on the way, the one passed in Tres Ojos, which is a beautiful natural park where natural pools of very transparent blue waters sprout inside three caves. And to finish off a visit to Boca Chica, the closest beach to the capital with that turquoise blue Caribbean sea.
